it's sandwich day!

today was an improvement on the last few days, that's for sure (i can't even type "fo' sho" anymore). first, i got a great email from my current best-client-ever loving everything i worked my ass off to do in the past 6 months and especially past 2 days. then i had an awesome meeting with a decisive, appreciative client. she loved everything i, i mean my co-worker, did (hey, the boss told me to delegate this project to her, so i did...and i did give credit where credit is due when client went on and on about how wonderful i supposedly am). the meeting went SUPER fast, too, and i got back in plenty of time for a lunch presentation. a sales rep brought us a huge lunch from daily grill (bread, flatbread with olive tapenade/hummus/some other dip, huge cobb salads, and THREE cupcakes each). why is that daily grill only tastes good (and pretty dang good, at that) when it's free? by the way, the frosting was WEIRD on those cupcakes...very creamy/buttery...like eating whipped butter, almost. anyway, i prioritized my work tasks for the afternoon and tomorrow and got out of the office on time (per my self-set schedule) for an afternoon full of running all over the westside to beverly hills (that's where i want to be!) to west hollywood to mid-wilshire to...basically every neighborhood in LA north of the 10.

wah.
so what exactly did i do the past few days that was so exhausting? pretty much shopped all over LA, packed my car so full i could barely fit, left it in my car in a campus parking lot praying fervently throughout class that no one would break into my car, then took it home. the next day, i drove it far away, unpacked and unwrapped all of that while supervising a weatherstripper (sounds dirty, no? maybe just to my dirty mind), electrician, furniture delivery guys, other furniture delivery guys, a houseguest, and catching up with the client on her way out. moved stuff around quite a bit, stewed over it all, then repacked about half the crap back into my car.

yah!
turned out pretty good (well, whatever). per myself, it was aiite. per my client, she lurved it. i lurve her back. she makes my life much easier.

here's a sneak peek. if you ever want quality upholstery, you have to hit these guys up, although they only sell to the trade, so you'll need a designer (with a resale license) and a good-sized gob of money handy. my crappy, blurry photo doesn't do their work justice. please note how they aligned the pattern at the seam flawlessly.

wah.
my camera died today. RIP, POS. i'm excited to get a better one, but not excited to spend money not set aside for it. meh. anyway, so many fun things to take photos of from the car today, but my camera died on the first attempt. of course when it was working, i never saw anything interesting while driving. figures. ;)

wah.
super sore from all the lifting the past few days. like, i strained both my biceps but not my triceps, back hurts, neck/shoulders hurt like hell as i tend to use those to lift heavy bags and also where i tend to hold tension. i'm extra clumsy because of the pain. this is even after using sales reps' labor and backdoor pickup for most.

yah!
i've gotten over my pride and ask for help when help is to be had now. i've even figured out how to kinda sorta bat my tiny eyes and lashes and get people to carry stuff for me (i am so not one to do this naturally). more because i'm a cute little girl rather than i'm a hottie, but whatevs. i'll take it. i was less sore this time around and recovered a little faster.

wah.
the car is guzzling from all that start/stop all over town. $60 to fill up my mid-sized sedan hurts.

yah!
i saw the montage beverly hills construction. i saw that culver city meat co. has turned into skin. and yes, one used to actually sell meat that we eat. the other sells a different kind of meat/meet/blech. i saw lots of pretty things, yummy food, and hilarious people i didn't have enough time to indulge in (kind of wah). i don't have the cash, anyway (wah wah wah). while waiting for salespeople to ring up my returns, i finished up my mothers' day shopping...for both my mom and the bear's. i guzzled lots of free water and tried cherry coke zero (yum).

wah.
i had to pee. really badly. all the way home. despite using every restroom at every stop possible. yay for hydration! TMI thursday!

yah!
on my way home, i think it was felli fel mixing some tupac and other good stuff on the rah-dee-oh! did you know that la brea turns into hawthorne? feeling adventurous, i figured that out and tried it. too bad it's about as bad as the freeway from hell due to construction. BUT...i still got home earlier than usual and put in all my hours for the day.

yah!
yummy dinner dug out from our freezer. watched scrubs, the office, AND half of 30 rock. that's the longest i've sat in front of the boob tube at once in a long time.

like i said, it's sandwich day! and i love me some super secret sandwiches.

  8. When I discovered that La Brea turned into Hawthorne, or rather that Hawthorne turned into La Brea, I thought it was absolutely revolutionary.

  14. daily grill food tastes better when it's free because it's over-priced to begin with ;)

didn't know about the la brea/hawthorne thing, but i was ecstatic when we realized that we could talk fairfax to la cienega and then just jump on the 405 at la tijera. makes getting down to visit the inlaws muuuuch easier.

such a busy little potato! sounds like things are looking up though, so a big fat YAY to that :)
